WORLD CUP 2022 REVIEW

English Premier League Betting Singapore

Every time the World Cup begins, the president of FIFA claims something along the lines that it will be the greatest tournament in the history of the World Cup. There was undoubtedly a lot of interesting stuff that went down at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar that would be worth remembering.

Qatar World Cup 2022 football teams

Much excitement and national pride surround the final match of the World Cup every year. Africa, Asia, Europe, North/Central America (and the Caribbean), South America, and Oceania are all well-represented among the 32 teams qualified for the World Cup.

The qualified teams have been divided into eight draws, and the teams in each draw will play each other before moving on to the next group. The groups are as follows:

Group A consists of Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, and the Netherlands.

Group B consists of the United States, England, Iran, and Wales.

Group C consists of Mexico, Argentina, Poland, and Saudi Arabia.

Group D consists of Denmark, Tunisia, France, and Australia.

Group E consists of Germany, Japan, Costa Rica, and Spain.

Group F consists of Canada, Croatia, Morocco, and Belgium.

Group G consists of Switzerland, Cameroon, Serbia, and Brazil.

Group H consists of South Korea, Portugal, Ghana, and Uruguay.

Qatar World Cup 2022 Stadiums

The eight stadiums in Doha and the neighboring cities of Lusail, Al Khor, and Al Wakrah hosted all 32 matches of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Here is a rundown of the eight venues:

  • Lusail Stadium
  • Al Bayt Stadium
  • Education City Stadium
  • Khalifa International Stadium
  • Stadium 974
  • Al Janoub Stadium
  • Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium
  • Al Thumama Stadium

Apart from Doha's Khalifa International Stadium, which dates back to 1976, all of Qatar's World Cup venues were erected in the past two years in preparation for the tournament.

The Lusail Stadium has the largest seating capacity, at 80,000. After that comes Al Bayt Stadium, which can hold 60,000 spectators and is the second largest venue at the tournament. Meanwhile, most stadiums can accommodate about 40,000 spectators.

The next generation of stars was born

Enzo Fernandez of Argentina was awarded the Best Young Player at the 2015 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after leading the Argentina midfield with skill and passion. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Goncalo Ramos of Portugal made a resounding debut in World Cup football betting with a hat trick in Portugal's 6-1 win over Switzerland.

Pedri of Spain and Jamal Musiala of Germany, Vinicius Jr. of Brazil, Bukayo Saka of England, and Pepe of Colombia are just a few of the players who could challenge Messi for the top spot in the future.

The legacy that the World Cup left for Qatar

In line with the government's 2030 national goal, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has spurred massive infrastructural construction across the country. The stadiums were constructed with the dual purpose of hosting World Cup games and continuing to serve as community sports and entertainment hubs long after the tournament ended.

Messi bidding farewell

It would be remiss of me to summarize the events of the Qatar tournament without mentioning Messi's exit from his final World Cup game.

Messi and Ronaldo may never play for their respective countries again, so this World Cup could be their last. They have excelled for their countries in various tournaments over many years, bringing joy and grief to countless supporters.

2026 and beyond

And what a World Cup that was: 2022 is over. It was full of breathless suspense and infectious happiness.

In 2026, the United States, Mexico, and Canada will jointly host the World Cup. To give more teams a chance to play and prove themselves as winners, FIFA is increasing the number of teams from 32 to 48. The competition format, however, remains unclear. The tournament's structure has not yet been revealed.

In any event, it is evident that the 2022 tournament will be difficult to surpass. We are confident, however, that in four years, FIFA will proclaim the 2026 World Cup to be the "greatest" to date.
